Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

FlightShot is an iPhone app that turns your flights into share cards. It has no accounts, and its only online service of its own is a flight lookup that receives a flight number and a date, never anything about you. This policy explains what the app keeps on your device, when it goes online, and what it sends.

01We don’t collect your data

FlightShot does not collect, upload or sell any personal data, and it contains no tracking, advertising or analytics SDKs. The app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking and no data collected.

You never need to sign up or sign in.

02What stays on your device

Your flights, trips, journal, photos, airports added by hand, text edited in the editor and each card’s style are stored only on your iPhone (SwiftData) and are never uploaded.

Photos added to a trip are shrunk to 2160 pixels on the long side, with a small thumbnail, and kept on the device. The app never asks for access to your whole photo library: photos come only from the system picker or the camera.

Companion names and seats are stored only on that flight. The seat map shows just the first letter of each name.

So the widgets and Live Activity can show your next trip, the app places that trip in an App Group on the device that only FlightShot’s own widgets and extensions can read.

Deleting the app deletes all of its data.

03Scanning a boarding pass

When you scan a boarding pass barcode (or read one from a screenshot), the name and booking code in it are only used to check its format. They are not stored and never appear on a card. The name on cards reads “FLIGHTSHOT/APP” unless you type one in the editor.

Barcode and text recognition run on the device (Apple Vision); no image is sent anywhere.

04When the app goes online

Flight lookup: when you type a flight number, the app sends only the flight number and date (for example CX450 and 2026-11-07) to FlightShot’s own lookup service at api.flightshot.app, which runs on Cloudflare and asks AeroDataBox for that day’s schedule. Answers are kept by flight number and date so the same lookup isn’t asked twice. The service keeps no request logs; your IP address is used only to limit how often lookups can be made and is not written to any log. No personal data is sent, and there is no API key in the app.

If the lookup service doesn’t have the flight, the app sends only the callsign (for example CAL150) to the community-run adsbdb.com to find the departure and arrival airports.

Maps: map cards use Apple Maps to draw the area around the airports and route. Offline, they fall back to a built-in route map.

Arrival weather: after you tap “I’m Here”, the app asks Apple WeatherKit for the weather at the arrival airport. It sends the airport’s location, not yours.

FlightShot does not use Location Services.

05Sharing

Only when you tap share is a card image or video handed to the app you pick (such as Instagram, Threads, X or LINE) or to the system share sheet. From there, that service’s privacy policy applies.

06Permissions

Camera: to scan boarding pass barcodes and take photos for your trips.

Photos: to save the cards you make, and to make cards from photos you pick.

Notifications: a reminder before departure, and a note when your trip recap is ready. You can turn them off in Settings.

07Children

FlightShot is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect data from anyone, because it collects none.

08Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above.
